Taking Back Your Life

Today I was checking out the Twitter feed of our new joint venture partner Alex Mandossian. I noticed that he had tweeted out a clip from the Matrix, a movie I love. It was the part where Morpheus offered Neo the red and blue pill. If Neo chose the blue pill, he would wake up in his bed and forget about everything that happened. If he chose the red one, he would see how far the rabbit hole went. And of course Neo chose the red pill that allowed him to jump into a new world where truth was more important than comfort.

Sometimes, as an entrepreneur, I feel like I took the red pill. I live in a world where the matrix seems totally applicable. I can seemingly bend my reality so that things go my way, I can ask the universe for anything, and I always get the response I desire as long as I am tuned into my most authentic message. If all of this is sounding way too woo woo, I will tone it down.

The point of this blog is not to lament the wonder and existential inquiries brought on by the Matrix, instead, it is to talk about creating your life in a way that works for you, in a way that will inspire you.

The way this is like the Matrix is that you have a choice. Will you have your business devour your every molecule, or will you break through, into a world where choice is at your command? Talking to my intern today, I realized that the concept of “choice” is not always so obvious to everyone. Most of us are programmed to think that the world is one way, and we must go along with what is given to us. But for those of us who have been paying attention, and have practiced bending reality, choice is an absolute.

How do YOU find choice? It’s simple really. To find choice, you must declare what you want. Write it down in a journal, tell it to those you trust, put it on your whiteboard, paint it in the sky. Once you declare the things you want, your brain will then begin the process of figuring out how to get that thing you desire. Do you want to work four hours a week like Tim Ferris? Read his book, 4 Hour Workweek and find out how. But, I have to tell you, I have hung out with him before, and that guy can be a workhorse. He explained to me that he is not lazy, and uses his time wisely. He chooses where to focus his time, and hence he has created the ultimate “choice.”

Do you want to make more money? If you declare it, your brain will begin to look for ways to increase revenue. Do you want to spend more time with your kids? Your brain will figure out a way to increase efficiency and get more done in less time, and you will be able to schedule time in your day to create that precious time with them.

Whatever you desire, do not just accept the status quo. At Social Experts we are ultra-committed that entrepreneurs have freedom in their lives to include doing the things they love, and spending time with those they care about. That is why we are about to unveil a Facebook Marketing Program that will teach you how to do effective Facebook Marketing in less time and help you make more money in your business, so you are able to Thrive and be home by Five.

Hope this blog has been useful and has opened up a new way of thinking about how you exist in your business. Until next time just remember, the spoon is not actually bending, consider instead that your mind is bending.

Much love,

Jeremy
